Intense wildfires in the Arctic have released more polluting gases into the Earth's atmosphere in the last month than any other fires in 18 years of data collection.
More than 100 wildfires are burning across the Arctic in Siberia, Canada, Alaska and Greenland, breaking records for June and July in terms of numbers and emissions from them.
