Salmon in the Columbia, Snake and even Salmon rivers are swimming into lethally hot waters that are at even higher temperatures than when nearly all of the Columbia and Snake sockeye died in 2015.
Each summer, salmon begin their journey back to the rivers where they were spawned. Alaskan fishermen, along with whales, eagles and bears, share in the abundance.
The Pebble Mine, which would be the largest in North America, was halted by the Obama administration out of concern it would irreversibly damage the famous sockeye salmon fishery.
