State regulators are rejecting a petition from environmentalists to increase a key cost for natural gas drillers. It’s not because they think current costs are appropriate. Trying to raise them now is against the law.
House Republicans are positioning Senate Bill 790 for a final vote by the full House Tuesday or Wednesday. The bill would significantly reduce requirements for protecting the environment from conventional oil and gas drilling.
The Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee reported out Senate Bill 790, which sets environmental protection standards for conventional oil and gas well drilling and legalizes road dumping of drilling wastewater.
