The Seattle startup Ridwell is building a business around collecting all the old batteries, clamshell containers and lightbulbs that most recycling programs leave behind.
They never believed it would actually solve the plastic waste problem. Today, it’s estimated that no more than 10 percent of plastic produced has ever been recycled.
The coffee pod company is investing the money to help New York City's recycling centers better recycle their coffee capsules (and, to be fair, a lot of other small pieces of metal).
