Britain is tightening controls on firms hoping to carry out hydraulic fracking in parts of the country by adding a financial health check to the application process, the government said on Thursday.
Energy group Ineos has applied to launch a legal challenge to the Scottish government's ban on onshore unconventional oil and gas development in Scotland, known as "fracking", arguing the ban was imposed unlawfully.
