For the first time in 140 years, the village of Mouthe – officially recognised as France’s coldest – reported a frost-free October. A temperate autumn is additional proof of the reality of the climate crisis, weather experts say.
In the coming days, the Met Office forecasts it will be unusually warm in much of mainland Europe, not just the UK, which has been experiencing temperatures above average.
