German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Tuesday that her country would withdraw from coal-fired power production by 2038, showing her support for the deadline recommended by a government-appointed commission.
The value of traded global markets for carbon dioxide allowances soared 250 percent last year to a record high of 144 billion euros ($164 billion), analysts at Refinitiv say.
